Why it matters

Protect Your Biggest Assets

Wildfire mitigation is not a cheap service, but it is necessary. You are protecting your family, your home, and everything inside it.

There is a second benefit too. When you have a documented assessment of the work done on your property, insurers in Colorado are far less likely to be able to simply drop you, which has become a real problem for mountain homeowners. The work protects your property, and the report protects your coverage.

Services

What We Do

Assessment & Insurance Report

We visit your property, take photos, walk the land, and assemble a written report documenting what is needed and what has been done across zones 1, 2, and 3. You can take it straight to your insurer.

Defensible Space Clearing

The actual labor: removing combustible fuels around the home, clearing deadfall, and trimming ladder branches by zone. Do the assessment, the work, or both.

The differentiator

Colorado's New Insurance Law & Your Rates

Insurers often will not cover mountain properties because they do not know the conditions of the land around the home.

When you do the work and we provide a report to your insurer showing exactly what has been done, that changes. Under Colorado's new insurance law, insurers must take a documented wildfire mitigation report into account when setting your rates. A report also makes it harder for an insurer to drop your coverage. We do the work and the documentation, so you have both protection and proof.

Who we are

Why Front Range Wildfire

We have lived this. Our founder grew up in Gunnison and Bailey and was evacuated numerous times because of wildfires, spending a lot of time cleaning up family properties. We understand how scary it is to have something like this completely out of your control, and our whole job is to take that off your plate.

We carry liability insurance and workers compensation so you are protected against liability while we work on your property.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is the benefit of wildfire mitigation if it isn't cheap?

It is not a cheap service, but it is necessary. You are protecting your biggest assets: your family, your home, and the possessions inside it. That is the real reason people do this work. On top of that, when we document the work in an assessment report, you have proof for your insurer, which makes it much harder for them to drop your coverage in Colorado.

How does wildfire mitigation affect my home insurance in Colorado?

Insurers often will not insure mountain properties because they do not know the conditions of the land around the home. When you do the work and we provide a report to your insurer documenting exactly what has been done in each zone, the insurer can see the property is protected. Under Colorado's new insurance law, insurers must take a documented wildfire mitigation report into account when setting your rates, and having such a report also makes it harder for an insurer to drop your coverage.

What are the defensible space zones and which one matters most?

There are three zones based on distance from your home. Zone 1 is 0 to 5 feet from the structure and is the most important, because embers landing right next to the home start fires. Zone 2 is 5 to 20 feet and is pretty important, where we remove deadfall and ladder fuels. Zone 3 is further out and is more about protecting the property than the home itself. We work outward from the most critical area first.

How much does a wildfire assessment and clearing work cost?

A property assessment with photos and a report starts at $199 for a simple, easy-access structure and can rise to $999 for complex properties with multiple outbuildings or distant locations. For the actual work, Zone 1 clearing starts at $599. Clearing all of the defensible-space zones typically runs about $3,000 to $5,000 per acre, and can reach $7,000 to $8,000 when tree removal is needed. We do not have a fixed price list yet, so treat these as starting points and ranges.

Do I have to be home while the work is done?

No. All of the wildfire mitigation work is done outside around the structure, so you do not need to be home for us to complete it.

How long does the insurance report take to get back?

The on-site assessment itself takes a few hours, where we take photos and walk the property to explain what is needed. After that, it takes a few days to assemble the written report you can take to your insurer.

What time of year can wildfire mitigation be done in Colorado?

The clearing work can be done in spring, summer, and fall, any time there is no snow on the ground. Summer is our busiest season. Winter is generally not workable because of the heavy snow on the ground.

Which Colorado areas do you serve?

We serve the Front Range and foothill communities from Monument up to Loveland, including Evergreen, Conifer, Bailey, and Woodland Park, along with mountain communities within the Denver area. We do not travel as far out as Gunnison.
